Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi all, I am new to the community! My husband and I are beginning the search for P/T Florida retirement from Tennessee. One month now, then 2, then several months etc. I am 62 he is 59. We will have an Allegro Bus & really like the look of Port style homes. The RV is protected and we have a nice small (under 900 sq ft) place to be during the day. Last year we rented at Bay Lake Resort in Polk City and looked at sites at Mt. Olive Shores North. Neither really fit the bill of a nice exclusive community for those of us just starting the process. Anyone have advise that may have found the solution or been there? I am not very patient but just cant seem to find the right search words to get much located or maybe this is just not popular enough to have much to chose from. Hope someone has some ideas!
Wendy we have stayed at Willow Lakes in Titusville a few times. It is between 45 minutes to an hour from Orlando. They have rentals and sales, with quite a few having port homes. If is a gated 55+ community. Their website is www.willowlakes.com. I would highly recommend it.

I am surprised Mt. Olive Shores North did not fit the bill, since we have friends there. Have you looked at The Great Outdoors in Titusville? The place is huge and has a variety of places.

Mt Olive does to an extent but all the really nice lots are long gone. They gave extended a section but it is just not appealing. The Great Outdoors is like being a city. Way too busy-lots of children and you have to drive by old run down properties to get to any Port Homes. The Port Homes were nice but not the neighborhood so much. We are renting for a month again at Bay Lake not far from Mt Olive and they are strickly Port Homes but they are right off the Freeway & noisy. We must have high expectations. I am going to look at Willow Lakes online but my husband said we went there and he didnt care for it. Me, I cant remember going to that one! Thanks all, keep them coming please!
Wendy we went and looked at the Great Outdoors today..... That place is like a city. I agree it is busy. We are going to Willow Lakes on Monday. Depending on when you stayed there, they have opened a couple more phases or additoons in recent years.

I will be curious as to what you find at Willow Lakes. We never stayed there and frankly my husband remembers something different than I. He describes a place that I remember visiting (cant recall the name as I tossed all info since it was a really old place) The place he says is Willow Lakes had a white iron gate, just inside on the left was a realtor type building to inquire. We rode around in a cart and remember seeing no consistency in home colors, some really wild bright ones and the gold course was small and awful but was supposed to be redone by someone in the golf world. Honestly we looked at so many places, I get them all run together. I would be happy to share my email if you get photos! Thanks so much again.
We drove through Willow Lakes today and it will probably beTuesday before we make it over there. I will send you some pictures when I get them. Yes you are remembering Willow Lakes. Depending when you last went. We were here two years ago and the place has expanded in that time. They have almost completed phase 3, when we were there last time they were selling Phase 1 and 2. We aren't golfers but the course looks nice and it seems busy. I will keep in touch.

Hi Wendy, I know there is a community in Davenport on US 27 just S of 1-4, also a really nice small upscale community near Elite Resorts in Orlando....lastly,mif interested we are selling our DW manufactured home at Woodlands of Church Lake between Clermont and Leesburg, has gated onsite RV parking in community, but not covered. Good Luck
There are many locations in Central Florida for Class A motorhomes only.
We opted to purchase a lot in Silver Springs, FL at Wilderness RV Resort in the Town Park section to maintain our Florida domicle. We plan on traveling out of Florida in the summer months and workamping and spending the winter months here.
Originally I was opposed to purchasing a lot after we sold our home, what we did was we rented here for a year and we fell in love with the place and the people.
There is also a Class A only section called the Preserve, only there are no port homes.
We enjoy being in the middle of the Ocala National Forest yet only a few minutes drive to shopping and only 90 minutes drive to OIA.
Thank you so much for the referrals. We had not heard of FloridaGrande nor Wilderness RV. Both look really interesting. I saved both sites to show to my husband. Citrus Valley (Elite Resorts)great videos on the place. Thank you all for posting these as I had not heard of them, keep them coming!
Also, Lily Lakes in Lake Wales, and lastly, there are places in Ocala National forest with no deed restrictions...Mary Weeks of Weeks realty knows that area well
Great news! After some long, long country road driving (dang GPS) and checking several Class A Communities we appear to have found a contender in Deer Creek RV Golf & Country Club on Hwy 27 in Davenport, FL. It has 6 different communities, all resident owned, each has their own pool, club house, HOA etc. The one we like best is Regal Pointe, Stage II-exclusive Class A, ports allowed and a 55+ community and 18 hole golf course with moderate difficulty. For those not looking for just Class A, the other communities offer a mix & are not all age exclusive. Just a note on others we checked out for those who are also new to this:Florida Grande RV Resort is a lot of acreage out in the country-VERY rural. They have an awesome Club House; Executive Suite buildings are allowed but every single one is identical, very stepford wives look. It boasts very large trees-->there are several on the perimeter of several lots but none within the community that act as actual shade, all very barron looking. It is remote, it is rural, it is 15 minutes from the Webster Flea Market which apparently is a good thing. A pretty good drive back to nicer surroundings and grocery store or shopping or medical. Great quiet place. We also traveled the Buschnell, Dade City ones. Many, many were strickley manufactured home communities, one right after another and the areas somewhat rundown. Blueberry Hill RV, Travelers Rest RV CAMPGROUND, Red Oaks RV. That's it. We vote for Hwy 27 with lots of new development including Medical/Hospital/Groceries/Restaurants!
